Kijoma Broadband - a "Now Generation" Internet Access Provider
on: Sun 05 of Aug, 2012 [14:45 UTC]  (31699 reads)
NEW tariff structure changes

The speeds offered below are available to at least 10% of the customers on a network. To comply with a new ASA ruling and to make actual Broadband speed capability more transparent from the more typical headline rates, Kijoma will provide a speed estimate at the order stage. From this we will measure the speed at installation and record these figures on the customers account.

NOTE: Existing customers on fixed speeds of 16 Mbps will remain on these rates until we have measured the actual speed you are capable of.

New ASA ruling on Advertised Broadband speeds
(6383 reads)
wireless
The Advertising Standards Authority have passed a ruling whereby Internet providers need to provide an actual expected speed to a customer, not just the headline figure.

This is an important step in the right direction for transparency between the claimed speeds from Internet Providers and the actual speeds the customers receive. Kijoma has historically only offered speeds that everybody was capable of. This means if the slowest service to a customer was 16 Mbps then everybody was limited to 16 Mbps so that no one received less than they signed up to.

The new ruling means we will now offer the speed as "up to" the speed at least 10% of the customers on a network would be capable of. So as to remain open and transparent, Kijoma will provide a speed estimate to people ordering service followed by an actual measured speed at installation. This figure will be displayed on the customers own control panel web page.

The test will be performed to a known fast web resource, Kijoma are not responsible for the speed attainable from any specific web resource as we have no control over the speed or capacity of the internet outside of our network and many resources/sites are heavily contended and/or have intentionally limited speeds by their operators.

Changes to our tariff structure will occur and speed tests for existing customers will be performed.
